“Here Comes the Son” Sugar Cookie Set

Wow, it’s been a crazy summer! I’ve been doing a bunch of custom sugar cookie sets and plan to write about the most fun ones. First up- a super cute baby shower set with the theme “Here Comes the Son!” This set has adorable baby-inspired shapes and is giving all the fun and sunny vibes for the perfect summer ’25 baby shower.

Cookie Designs

This set had 7 different cookie designs- circle, plaque, onesie, bottle, bib, rattle, and sleeper/PJ’s. The circle and plaque spelled out the theme and tied everything together, while the 5 baby items provided the “oh my goodness, how stinkin’ cute”ness.

Bib- white flood with yellow, orange, and blue broken lines, yellow sun sprinkle, with painted gold buttons and lower right brushed with gold luster dust. Pictures do not do this justice! The way the gold sparkled in the light doesn’t come through in pictures, I tried. For anyone looking for the best gold luster dust- Bakell Super Gold (it’s vegan, edible, and the perfect gold).

Rattle- White flood, blue ribbon using Wilton tip 44, yellow and orange sun. Simple and classic.

Bottle- White flood for base, blue for bottle collar, and orange for the nipple. Blue piping was used for measurement marks. It looked so cute I almost didn’t want to mess it up and add the sun, but it really tied it into the whole theme and I’m glad I added the yellow and orange sun to the bottom right.

Onesie- Blue flood, blue top outline, orange and yellow sun, yellow buttons. I debated painting the buttons gold but ultimately couldn’t- the yellow pops so well against the blue as is!

PJ’s- Honestly I needed something I could put in the set to have more orange, and these sleepers did not disappoint. The sun sprinkle ties in the sun sprinkle from the bib also, so there isn’t one design that stands out. The blue cuffs tie in the blue, and the gold buttons tie the gold from the circle and the bib.

Circle- this was the most time-consuming cookie. Each flood has to dry before moving on to the next section. I then outlined the word “Son” with gold, which, again, looked much prettier in person.

Plaque- Blue flood; white, orange, and yellow writing. I left the “Son” yellow on this one because it really pops against the blue. I also wanted to use the gold sparingly, as little pops of metallic.

Colors

“Here Comes the Son” themes have blue, orange, yellow, and white. I also used gold luster dust to accent and have little pops of metallic. I used Ann Clark gel food coloring and let it develop in the homemade royal icing for 24 hours before bagging and decorating.

White- 17 oz

Yellow- 8 oz

Blue- 11 oz

Orange- 8 oz

Anything I’d Do Different?

No, I think these turned out great! The designs and colors were really fun, and everything tied together nicely.
